The Qatar Internet Exchange (QIX.qa), instantiated in the
form of an OSI layer 2 switch fabric,
is an
Internet exchange point(s) located in Qatar, with the goal
of creating local and international bandwidth exchange
between Internet networks for the purposes of bettering
Internet connectivity in the region and
promoting economic development.
1- Enhance the efficiency of the Internet in the State of Qatar by having simplified and scalable
interconnection agreements between the “QIX.qa” Participants.
2- Reduce the dependency on the international Internet connectivity.
3- Encourage the local content development, and attract global content providers.
4- Establish a neutral “QIX.qa” to connect eligible Participants.
